B.K. to the rescue

Sighs turned to smiles as 15 persons who had been rendered homeless by fire saw tons of building supplies being off-loaded to herald the rebuilding process at Lot 31 Kingelley Village, West Coast Berbice.

A fire believed to have been started by unsupervised children left 11 of them and four adults without a home.

Minister of Social Protection Amna Ally who were in Berbice for the Emancipation celebrations visited the family.

As a result of the interaction Brian Tiwari, managing-director of B.K Tiwari rushed sand, stone, cement and other supplies to the site. Now a three-bedroom concrete structure will take the place of the inadequate wooden one-flat structure.

One visitor, Tony Yacoob, donated US$500 and has made a promise to supply the home with essentials like beds, refrigerator, stove, furniture, etc.
